Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) has partnered with the Association of National Advertisers (ANA) to present TEEN CHOICE’s first-ever #SeeHer Award to Vanessa Hudgens. Currently a judge on FOX’s SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, Hudgens will be honored for pushing boundaries on changing stereotypes and embodying the fight for realistic female portrayals in media. The star-studded, two-hour TEEN CHOICE 2017 airs LIVE Sunday, Aug. 13 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) from University of Southern California’s Galen Center on FOX.

Spearheaded by the ANA, the largest marketing and advertising association in the United States, the mission of the #SeeHer campaign is to lead a movement to accurately portray all women and girls in all forms of media – from TV to digital to advertising – so that, by 2020, they see themselves reflected as they truly are. This marks the first time that a #SeeHer Award will be awarded at TEEN CHOICE.

Hudgens serves as a judge on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, airing Mondays (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) on FOX, and began her work in musical theater at a young age, in shows such as “The Wizard of Oz,” “The King & I,” “The Music Man” and “Cinderella.” In 2015, she made her Broadway debut, starring in the title role of the beloved Academy Award- and Tony Award-winning film and stage musical “Gigi.” In 2016, she starred in FOX’s GREASE: LIVE, which was nominated for 10 Emmy Awards and won five, the most ever for a Special Class program. In 2010, Hudgens won the ShoWest Award for “Female Star of Tomorrow.” Her film credits include “Thirteen” and “Spring Breakers.” Her television credits include “High School Musical” and the action comedy “Powerless,” set in the DC universe.

About the #SeeHer Initiative Despite the strides made to accurately portray women and girls in media, an unconscious bias persists against women and girls in advertising, media and programming. The Association of National Advertisers (ANA) Alliance for Family Entertainment (AFE) launched the #SeeHer initiative in June 2016 in a joint partnership with The Female Quotient, after the White House announced the elimination of gender bias in media as critical to the nation’s future. The #SeeHer Initiative mission is to accurately portray all women and girls in media by 2020, the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote. Ludacris is one cool dude, and because he’s one cool dude he’s been enlisted for the fourth consecutive year to host one of the coolest awards shows, the 2017 Billboard Music Awards, which happen on Sunday, May 21. And guess what? This cool dude is going to a get a cool new lady to hang out with at this year’s awards show: Vanessa Hudgens.

So what do these two think about hosting the big night with each other? E! News caught up with the High School Musical actress and the rapper-turned-actor earlier today and the two dished about what fans should expect from the upcoming show this Sunday.

First off, E! News found out that even though the show is just days away, these two have never met before!

Hudgens said, “He seems like a really cool guy…I think I might give him a little more energy than what he’s used to, but we’ll just have to wait and see. I think it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

In his interview, Luda referred to his hosting the awards show a fourth time as a “humbling” experience.

As for his cast of rotating female hosts (Ciara in 2016, Chrissy Teigen in 2015 and by himself in 2014), the 39-year-old says switching up co-hosts keeps things fresh.”It’s always good to have different dynamics just to keep the show exciting and keep people on their toes by having different women [hosts] as well, because you have that ying and that yang,” he said. “Every time it’s going to be different so it’s not like you’re doing the same thing every time.”As for how Hudgens got the hosting gig this year, the 28-year-old explained, “They came to me asking if I wanted to do it and I have never really thought about hosting before but I thought Billboard Awards is one of my favorite music award shows so why not?!”

As for his go-to rituals the night of, the rapper said he only needs one thing: “It’s really just about saying a prayer and making sure we do this job and bring the energy that is going to resonate to people around the world that are watching, and to have a great show!”Well…a prayer and some expensive cognac! The funny man also mentioned that the annual tradition of Remy Martin Louis Xiii is an added green-room bonus, explaining, “The good thing is every time we do the Billboard Awards they always have free Louis Xiii flowing, which is monumental because that’s like a $3K a bottle. It’s so expensive!” He joked, “Extremely expensive cognac is really what I feel like is a great thing and a great ritual for the show.”

Alas, the host with the most did say that it’s unlikely that his in/famous abs from his “Vitamin D” video will get any stage or screen time.

But both Hudgens and Ludacris said audiences can expect a number of costume changes during the action-packed show. But don’t expect Coachella’s biggest fashion queen to emulate her famed boho looks for the awards show. Instead she’s going for big glamour for the big night.”At Coachella I dress myself and do my own hair and makeup and this time I’m actually gonna have a really amazing team to help me elevate my look so you’ll just see the ultra-glam version,” said the brunette.

The actress talks candidly in this Q&A

The actress, singer and general style star (did you see Vanessa Hudgens’ Coachella manicure!?) has been in the public eye since 2006’s High School Musical. Now, aged 28, Vanessa has taken Hollywood by storm, starring as Rizzo in Grease Live!, becoming an ambassador for Ecotools make-up brushes and starring in DC Comics current comedy Priceless where she plays one of the insurers at Batman‘s Wayne Enterprises. We caught up with the star to ask her the questions that apparently lead to love.

Given the choice of anyone in the world, who would you want as a dinner guest?
I’ve got to choose Meryl Streep. Meryl Streep is just everything. I got to meet her and she was everything I wanted her to be and more, I only had around five minutes with her so an entire dinner with her would be ideal.

When did you last sing to yourself?
I think it was one of Kendrick Lemar’s new songs from his new album DAMN, I think the song is called love. I was in the car driving to my indoor cycling class with my sister and my best friend.

When did you last sing to someone else?
Coachella! I actually think it was Kendrick Lemar again and me and my sister were singing and rapping to each other.

Tell us an embarrassing moment in your life…
I am trying to think when the last one was, I have them all the time because I’m very clumsy. When I was shopping probably, I shop a lot, but I can’t remember a specific one. It is probably so recent that I’m just trying to forget it…

What in your life do you feel most grateful for?
A lot of things. I love spending time with the feeling of gratitude because I feel like it elevates life. It just really allows you to appreciate things so much more like my family, my puppy, having a roof over my head and living in California. I love California; I was born and raised here so it’s just a special place to me. I love having free time so I can go to places like Coachella and create new memories and be inspired and pat myself on the back for working hard. I am a very grateful person.

What’s your puppy’s name?
Her name is Darla and she is actually sitting next to me now. My boyfriend’s mum rescued her from my neighbour’s balcony because she was out there for a few days in 100 degree heat with no water and no food and just so scared of the world so she ended up with us because his mum passed away so we now take care of her and she is our little angel. She’s so scrappy and she is like a little terrier mutt with the best personality in the world.

Can you tell us your life story in 30 seconds?
I was born in California my dad was a fire fighter and my mum kind of bounced around jobs because I would call her from my babysitter too many times that she actually got fired and became a mum full-time. From the age of three, I loved performing so my parents put me in classes and one thing let to another and I have been able to live my dreams and feel fulfilled and accomplished and above all happy.

If you could wake up tomorrow having claimed any quality or ability what would it be?
Oh my gosh, I think speak Italian. I don’t speak any other languages and Italian is my favourite. I love the culture in Italy and the people and the food and the country. I love Italian so if I could speak the language then that would be very ideal. Positano is like Disneyland for adults. It’s the most magical place ever.

If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future or anything else what would you want to know?
I don’t know, I feel like I wouldn’t want to know anything too specific and I think you would be constantly comparing yourself to something that hasn’t happened yet therefore taking you out of the present. I don’t even know if I want to know anything, I am super happy where I am in my life career wise and personally and I think I just have to keep on feeling my best and hope that is enough and if it’s not then, I’ll just pick myself back up and keep moving forward. If I could know anything, it’d be how we can end starvation, especially for children. I think that is one of the things that kills me most. I hate being hungry because I get very hangry and I am not fun to be around at all and I am a full grown woman but to think there are children all around the world that don’t have that accessibility to go and buy a meal is so devastating. There is just so much of it all around the world that haunts me.

What have you dreamed of doing for a long time and why haven’t you done it yet?
I need to play the piano. I tinker in it still to this day but to fully invest yourself in something it becomes a different story than just trying it.

What do you value most in a friendship?
I mean obviously honesty, not being judgemental, fun playfulness and just someone that is always down to be silly with me.

When did you last cry in front of another person?
It was at Coachella. I was watching Bon Iver and it was so beautiful and magical and it just really moved me. I looked over at my sister and my hand was on my heart and I was just crying.

When was the last time you cried by yourself?
I was watching a movie and I balled my eyes out watching that movie by myself I just thought it was so beautiful and Mark Rylance is just honestly one of the most majestic human beings around.

What is your most treasured memory?
Probably taking my last bow at my first Broadway show when I got to walk down this grand staircase and I had a very surreal moment where I was like I am here, I did this, I worked hard and I enjoyed every second of it.

What is your most terrible memory?
Probably my mum calling me and telling me my dad had passed away.

When did you first wear make-up?
I love doing eye make up I have been doing it on myself since I was like eight years old because colours are so fun to play with. I’m the kind of girl who needs like 10 million brushes and I like the Eco Tool collection because they’re made of bamboo and recycled aluminium and are cruelty-free.

If your house caught fire but everyone is safe your family is safe your pets are safe, what would you go back to get?
I don’t have a photo album here but if I did I would grab it. Realistically, this may sound a little shallow but I have this dress from the 70s by Dior and it is so beautiful, it’s literally like a piece of art.

Vanessa and Shawn Hook are set to perform their new single ‘Reminding Me‘ at The Today Show on May 8th! The Today Show takes place in New York City, so NY Lovebugs, rush over to see the performance live.  Shawn shared these news via his Twitter. Watch the music video:

Vanessa attended  Ecotools #MyTrueBeauty Campaign ‘A Toast To True Beauty’ Bar in New York on April 19th (last week). Also she attended the 30 minutes panel. Pictures can be found in the gallery (credit goes out to VAHNews) and the video can can be seen on YouTube. Also Glamour Magazine wrote:

Vanessa Hudgens is teaming up with EcoTools, maker of eco-friendly makeup brushes and beauty accessories, to encourage women to embrace their own natural beauty with the #MyTrueBeauty campaign. That’s a great cause all on its own, but there’s a kicker: EcoTools also donated $100,000 to Glamour‘s own philanthropic initiative, The Girl Project—for the second time—and released a new line of brush sets dedicated to empowering girls. The idea behind the #MyTrueBeauty campaign is to remove the intimidation factor from makeup application and encourage women to have fun with their look. And with that mission, who could be a better spokesperson than Hudgens, the music-festival queen who looks equally at home with ultra-long boho waves and a cherry red lip or a cat eye and Princess Leia hair. “For me it’s like, if I Iike it, I’m going to do it,” Hudgens told us at a #MyTrueBeauty event this week. “Because it’s like, you only get one life, and the way we look is one way to express ourselves. You can become literally whoever you want to be for the day through your makeup and your hair and your fashion.” I’s hard to imagine Hudgens ever feeling unsure of herself or her look—but she insists that happens to her too. “I have days where I feel like crap, and I feel hideous, and I want to hide under a rock and don’t know what to wear and I just want to cry. We all have our days.” So what does she do to get out of that funk? “I take a deep breath. I try to meditate for five minutes to clear my mind of any negative energy. And then I just try to take it one step at a time and decide what shoes do I want to wear—let’s start there. And then I can build an outfit up from my shoes. There are three new, limited-edition brush sets from EcoTools: Prepped for Change, Eye Am Courageous, and Glow for It. They’re $19.99 each and available on the EcoTools website. And be sure to check out the #MyTrueBeauty road trip calendar to see if they’re going to be in a town near you.

These news made us sad: ‘Powerless‘ got canceled. Entertaintment Weekly wrote:

The network has yanked the superhero comedy with three episodes remaining from its schedule. Though this is not an official cancellation, it’s clearly a very bad sign for the D.C. universe series.

Powerless stars Vanessa Hudgens, Danny Pudi, and Alan Tudyk and follows a group of ordinary office workers in a world of superheroes and supervillains. The show launched as a midseason replacement in February but has only averaged about 2.9 million viewers.

So we got three more episodes of fun with the cast of ‘Powerless’ til the show ends. Sigh.
